Who is the workshop for?

This workshop will be useful for academics at the start of their research journey or those who want some motivational tips to ‘keep going’ with their ideas and writing.

Introduction and aims of the session:

1. To develop confidence in understanding the relationship between research, an ‘idea’, communication, and writing for publication in higher education.

2. To break down the barriers of publication that you might have about including the scholarship of teaching and learning from your discipline specific context.

Getting started

What does it mean? What interests you? Who would also be interested?

How do you research this? What can you write about, and what are the publication options. We will also have a go at writing an Op-Ed (Opinion piece) in your area as a starting point. This is a smaller piece of writing, that you can publish in a professional association journal, the wider press, or a blog. This has a specific genre and we’ll be exploring the ‘hook’ you use.

This is an interactive friendly ‘no pressure’ workshop, that enables you to talk through your ideas with others, and to gain some ‘hot tips’ along the way.
